Wilkommen Rekrut! We are the 12./Komp III Btl. III Panzer Grenadier Rgt. “Deutschland” 2nd SS Panzer Div. “Das Reich”, a World War II Re-enacting group located in the mid-Atlantic region of the United States. This unit was founded by military veterans and police officers with a vision of a unit who is second to none in tactical proficiency. We are not a parade ground unit. Consequently, there is a very heavy emphasis on physical fitness within this unit.
This is not to say that we will not accept members who are overweight, however in the interests of both historical accuracy (there were no front line SS soldiers with stomachs hanging out over their belts), and safety, we will select members who share our similar views of physical fitness. In the field, we move, and we move fast. We are a heavy mortar company (We own three 82mm Mortar), and the physical effort required to move this equipment from one location to another is indeed strenuous.
If you are still interested, please understand that this is a very expensive hobby. A basic impression (or kit) will cost a new rekrut at least $1,500 to $2,000 dollars. We are a small unit, and the amount of “loaner” gear available to new rekruts is limited. We will, however, help you in any way possible to save money by directing you to good sources of material, and will provide you with a reasonable amount of time to acquire your gear.
We will also ask that you sign a waiver for a criminal background check. This is done for several reasons. First, no convicted felon can own a firearm; we use REAL GUNS for these events. Second, we are not racists, nor do we share any racial or ideological beliefs consistent with the Nazi party, and we have no desire to associate with anyone who does.
We attend between 5-10 events per year, usually a mixture of living history events and invitation only tacticals on the east coast and in the mid west. As we are spread out over most of the mid-Atlantic region, we handle most of our correspondence through the web page or via e-mail.
If you are interested in belonging to one of the finest fighting units in the re-enacting today, please click on the link below and send us an e-mail. Our new rekrut coordinator will contact you in a timely manner to further discuss your interest in this fascinating hobby. You will also want to click on the 'Learn about the German Army' link to get aquanted with the equipment and such that any reenactor will need.
Tchuss,
